A few words
about Julie
Julie Brondino is a French-born artist based in Newcastle, Australia. Originally from Aix-en-Provence, she brings to her art a deep connection to nature and a background in graphic design, with over fifteen years of experience in visual communication. This dual practice informs her eye for composition, balance, and detail, while her art remains instinctive and raw.
Working with mixed media, Julie creates textured abstract works that reveal the hidden beauty of imperfections. Her earthy palettes, ranging from olive and terracotta to burnt sand tones, evoke landscapes, memory, and transformation. Each piece reflects her fascination with marks of time, raw surfaces, and the quiet resilience of nature.

“My work grows from the ground I walk on. I am drawn to the raw materials of nature, to textures that hold stories, like memories you can touch.”
Family heritage influences her marks, carrying the imprint of strong women and community, alongside the stories of those who moved, escaped, and began again. Her background is layered with migration, resilience, and the search for belonging.
Adventure and freedom have also shaped Julie’s practice. Journeys with no strings attached opened her heart and mind, teaching her flexibility and connection. These experiences live within her work as gestures of possibility and openness to the unknown.

“Every texture, every layer, is a trace of time, a reminder that identity is not fixed but always in motion. My paintings are both personal and universal: grounded in nature, carried by memory, and shaped by the marks we leave behind.”
Her works invite viewers to slow down, connect, and experience the tactile stories within the surface.
Influences
Julie’s artistic vision has been shaped by figures including Egon Schiele, William Eggleston, J.M.W. Turner, and Antoni Tàpies. Though from different eras and disciplines, each shares a commitment to portraying life with intensity and honesty.
